TREVISO. Tragedy on the afternoon of Saturday, July 11 in the province of Treviso where a 53-year-old man, Thomas Pizzedaz, originally from Bolzano but resident in Londa, in the province of Florence, lost his life after falling with his paraglider into a vineyard.

The accident
The accident occurred around 4 p.m., in Molino di Fratta di Tarzo. The man, for reasons under investigation, fell to the ground with his wing while he was in the landing phase.
The rescue
A team from the Alpine Rescue of the Treviso Prealps arrived on site, to possibly support the Treviso emergency helicopter that landed near the impact point. However, the attempts at resuscitation by the medical personnel of the air ambulance were in vain, who could only confirm the man’s death. An ambulance and carabinieri were also present at the scene.
No hypothesis is currently excluded regarding the causes of the accident. The pilot may have suffered a sudden illness while about to land or the paraglider may have fallen due to a malfunction.
