The golden armchair of the general manager of Confcommercio Toscana Franco Marinoni has definitely been lost, who, as already anticipated by Il Tirreno in its edition of July 31, is forced to resign by September 15 after having continuously held the role since November 2013, almost thirteen years ago.

Together with the president of the same Confcommercio Toscana Aldo Cursano, Marinoni will have to step aside after being voted out by almost the entire regional structure (six associations out of seven, those of Grosseto, Lucca-Massa Carrara, Pisa, Livorno, Pistoia-Prato and Siena, except for the one from Florence-Arezzo, which remained loyal to the duo Cursano-Marinoni, respectively president and director of the interprovincial federation). The fact that the 2025 financial statement was not even approved, among whose items accounting and administrative issues were found related to a clear imbalance of regional funds in favor of the Florence-Arezzo association, caused an earthquake in recent days that was also felt in Piazza Giuseppe Gioachino Belli in Rome, where the headquarters of Confcommercio national is located. And it is precisely in the capital, in these last days, that they managed the “Marinoni case.”
In the end, after a detailed discussion, an agreement was reached to close the long chapter of the now former general manager of Confcommercio Toscana. The agreement between the parties, signed not only by the person concerned but also by the presidents of the seven provincial and interprovincial Tuscan associations and the vice president delegated to the organization of Confcommercio national, frames the termination of Marinoni’s contract, the commitment to approve the financial statement, the resignation of the vice president representing Florence-Arezzo, of the administrator also representing Florence-Arezzo, of the board of auditors and the board of arbitrators, and the convocation by president Cursano for the morning of September 15 or 16 of the Confcommercio Toscana board meeting with on the agenda the election of president, vice president, and administrator.

Marinoni is leaving far from empty-handed: the agreement indeed provides that he will receive a severance pay of 240,000 euros. Money on money, since Marinoni himself earned over 25,000 euros net per month, including the executive pension accrued three years ago, the compensation as general manager of Confcommercio Toscana, that as director of the interprovincial association of Florence-Arezzo, and about 4,000 euros in expense reimbursements. All figures that came to light during a more careful examination of the accounts in the phase preceding the approval of the financial statement, during which attention also focused on the purchase, obviously with Confcommercio funds, of a watch worth 10,980 euros, over which there still hangs a veil of mystery regarding who commissioned the purchase and who received the costly gift.
The “overthrow” is therefore expected by mid-September, although it will be such only within Confcommercio Toscana, since, with a decisive coup on July 31, precisely the day Il Tirreno gave the news of the vote of no confidence, the president of Confcommercio Florence-Arezzo hastily convened the board meeting with on the agenda “measures for social positions.” The meeting took place last Thursday and, despite the leadership’s term being scheduled until 2029, it was decided to put to vote and approve the confirmation of the same, obviously including president Cursano and director Marinoni, for another five years, from 2026 to 2031, two years longer than planned. Essentially, therefore, Cursano and Marinoni, no longer able to hold on to the golden armchair of Confcommercio Toscana, definitively shattered under the weight of controversies, the vote of no confidence, and the “Roman” agreement, thought to at least save for themselves the small chair of the interprovincial association.
