Born in Florence on May 7, 1960, a student of Orazio Costa Giovangigli, of whom he was personal secretary between 1990 and 1994, Marco Giorgetti was appointed director of the Teatro Stabile di Catania in September 2025. From 2007 to 2025 he was general manager of the Teatro della Pergola then Fondazione Teatro della Toscana, with technical-administrative and artistic functions; since 2003 he has been a contract lecturer in organization and production of shows at specialist training institutions and universities. After a diversified experience in various fields of live entertainment, which saw him employed between 1978 and 1994 in both artistic and technical roles and which gave him hands-on knowledge of the sector in all its professions, since 1994 he has specifically dedicated himself to organization and management work. The theoretical references are Paolo Grassi, Fulvio Fo, Giorgio Guazzotti, Gianfilippo Cuneo, whose principles of business economics applied to theater he experimented with between 1990 and 1995.

In 1995 he joined as Head of Promotion and External Relations at the Teatro della Pergola in Florence, becoming first deputy director in 1997, then director in 1999. In 2002 he founded and became President of Firenze dei teatri, the Association which, following a model present only in France, brings together all the theaters in the Florence metropolitan area. In 2003 he was organizational and technical director of Les Italiens, a showcase of Italian shows held in Paris across 5 venues for the Italian Presidency Semester of the European Union with artistic direction by Maurizio Scaparro. In 2004 he was General Director of the Ente Teatrale Italiano. In 2007 he returned as managing director to the Teatro della Pergola where he launched the autonomy project which in 2011 was completed with the establishment of the Fondazione Teatro della Pergola, of which he was appointed General Director. In 2015, following the merger with Pontedera Teatro, this became Teatro della Toscana and was recognized as a National Theater.
Regarding his artistic activity, graduated in acting in 1979 with Orazio Costa Giovangigli at the Centro di Avviamento all’Espressione in Florence, he obtained certification to teach the Mimic Method, to which he has dedicated and still dedicates himself. Between 1978 and 1994 he was an actor in theater, cinema, and television, and assistant director with drama companies and nationally significant theaters, organizer and artistic director of theatrical structures and events. As an author, he won the VIII Ugo Betti National Playwriting Prize with the text Il canto degli umili and the 1996 Grinzane Cavour Prize for Writing Rai Italian Television. Other recognitions and awards: Galileo 2000 Prize in 2003, Golden Solomon of the University of Florence 2004, Florence Prize 2005, Le Muse Prize 2006, Bel San Giovanni Prize of the Society of San Giovanni Battista of Florence 2006, in 2007 Commander of the Republic, in 2008 Honorary Academician of the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence.
