Awakening marked by rather cool temperatures in the inland areas of Tuscany, particularly in the Apennine basins where strong nighttime radiation favors a rapid drop in values. With the weakening of the grecale wind, temperatures dropped quickly, as explained by the Centro Meteo Toscana.
Among the coldest locations is Palazzo del Pero, where the mercury stopped at 7 degrees, while Badia Agnano, Ortignano, and Monterchi recorded 9 degrees. Values were decidedly milder along the coast and in the immediate inland areas, where temperatures remained around 20 degrees.
Highs close to 30 degrees
Yesterday, maximum temperatures generally remained just below 30 degrees. Peaks of 30-31 degrees were recorded only in the areas of the immediate Grosseto hinterland.
From a meteorological point of view, the Cmt explains, Tuscany will remain under the influence of an Azores high-pressure field until Wednesday, at least in the initial phase. Atmospheric conditions will therefore be predominantly stable, with sunny days and maximum temperatures around or slightly below 30 degrees.
Minimum temperatures, on the other hand, will remain more pleasant, especially during the night hours and in the inland areas.
Deterioration arriving between Thursday and Friday
The situation could change between Thursday and Friday, when the arrival of a new trough from the North Atlantic is expected. The passage could cause a worsening of the weather accompanied by a drop in temperatures.
At the moment it is still too early to precisely determine the extent of the precipitation and the most affected areas, “but it is not excluded that the deterioration could also affect Tuscany,” the Cmt further explains. Lamma confirms the return of thunderstorms, even strong ones, on Thursday afternoon.
High pressure returns over the weekend
After the possible stormy passage, especially during the weekend, models indicate a new resurgence of high pressure. More stable atmospheric conditions and mild temperatures could therefore return.
A scenario that could bring back to Tuscany what is commonly called the “little September summer.”
