Not even time to leave behind the rains of recent days, as Tuscany is preparing to be crossed by a new weather front. As explained by the Tuscany Weather Center, the disturbance, moving from west to east, will reach our region during the next night – Tuesday, August 25 – bringing new showers and thunderstorms, although generally less intense than those recorded in recent days.

New thunderstorms arriving from the night
The change in atmospheric circulation that has affected Europe in recent days is especially evident when observing the evolution of temperatures and disturbances. Just a few weeks ago, France, Spain, and Portugal were dealing with exceptionally high thermal values. Now, however, new thunderstorm systems are arriving from the western area of the continent heading towards Italy.
Already in the next few hours, the thunderstorms present over the Iberian Peninsula and France will tend to intensify and move eastward, progressively reaching our country as well, the Cmt comments further.
Tuscany, worsening starting from the western provinces
In Tuscany, the worsening will begin in the evening, especially in the provinces closest to Liguria. The first showers are expected during the night and may be accompanied by some thunderstorm manifestations. “By tomorrow morning, Tuesday, August 25, the phenomena will also affect the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago and then extend mainly to the inland areas.”
More intense thunderstorms in 3 provinces
The most involved areas will be the inland ones and, in particular, the provinces of Siena, Arezzo, and Grosseto. Locally, the thunderstorms could be more intense, with total precipitation possibly reaching 40-50 millimeters in the most affected areas.
During the afternoon, a progressive improvement is expected along the coast. Some instability could continue to affect the Apennine areas, especially near the border with Umbria and Lazio, where new showers are not excluded.
Summer weather returns Wednesday and Thursday
After tomorrow’s disturbed passage, the situation is expected to improve. Wednesday and Thursday will bring more summer-like conditions, with rising temperatures but without particular extremes.
On Friday, cloudiness could increase again, this time mainly stratified. The seas will tend to become rough, and a strong Scirocco wind is expected along the coast. The increase in minimum values could also make the climate more sultry.
Friday the hottest day of the week
According to the current evolution, Friday could be the hottest day of the week, while the day characterized by the greatest instability will undoubtedly be tomorrow.
For Tuscany, however, no particularly significant thermal extremes are expected in the last week of August.
