There is a two-day extension, until August 26, of the 17-cent discount on diesel. The Minister of Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti, in agreement with the Minister of the Environment Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, signed the ministerial decree that activates the mechanism of mobile excise duties, which uses the VAT extra revenue, extending the cut provided by the latest excise decree, valid until August 24.

As stated in the ministerial decree, “the lower revenues amounting to 20.8 million euros” are compensated by the “higher revenue achieved in the period from July 1 to July 31, 2026, in relation to periodic payments of value-added tax.”
