Starting next week it will be possible to start purchasing Trenitalia rail subscriptions for October 2026 discounted by 50% by the will of the Tuscany Region, to compensate for the extraordinary inconveniences suffered by commuters during the summer months.
All types of subscriptions will benefit from the reduction: weekly, monthly, annual, supraregional and Pegaso. The delivery methods will be different, but any traveler who purchases a rail subscription that includes the period of October 2026 will see the reduced fare applied.
50% discount for Tuscan commuters
“We are well aware – said the president of Tuscany, Eugenio Giani – of the difficulties that Tuscan commuters experienced during the summer, especially in July due to the replacement of the Ponte a Pino viaduct in Florence.”
“This major intervention had more or less evident repercussions on the entire railway system and for this reason we asked for and obtained economic compensation from the managers, a tangible gesture that demonstrates Tuscany’s attention to those who travel by train every day.”
Discount directly at purchase
Specifically, for weekly and monthly subscriptions relating to October 2026, the 50% discount will be applied directly at the time of purchase.
The reduction will be available at ticket offices, automatic ticket machines, online and in all Trenitalia sales channels, including tobacconists and newsagents.
Discounts also for annual, supraregional and Pegaso subscriptions
Supraregional, annual and Pegaso fare subscriptions will also benefit from the compensation.
For annual subscriptions, the validity period must include October 2026. For example, an annual subscription purchased in November 2025 falls within the measure because it remains valid throughout October 2026.

Vouchers for annual and Pegaso subscriptions
The methods and timing for requesting vouchers related to Trenitalia supraregional, Trenitalia annual and Pegaso subscriptions are still being defined.
The Tuscany Region announces that the instructions will be communicated by the end of the year.
Tuscany Region: “The goal is to reduce disruptions”
“The priority of the Region remains to improve the railway service every day, reduce delays and address the critical issues that commuters face daily,” explains regional councilor Filippo Boni.
Boni clarifies that the discount on October subscriptions “is not intended to be a solution to ordinary disruptions, nor to replace the work we are carrying out with Trenitalia and RFI to make the service more punctual and reliable.”
The situation at Ponte al Pino is instead considered different, because it is linked to an extraordinary and unavoidable infrastructure intervention that caused the interruption of traffic and exceptional inconveniences for thousands of commuters.
Trenitalia discount valid only for October 2026
Finally, the Region emphasizes that the goal is not to compensate for disruptions through bonuses, but to reduce delays and critical issues in rail transport, asking Trenitalia and RFI for greater punctuality, regularity and reliability.
The compensatory 50% discount will be applicable exclusively for the month of October 2026.
