GROSSETO. On the weekends of September 5 and 6 and September 12 and 13, rail traffic on the Genoa-Pisa-Grosseto-Rome line will undergo some changes to allow infrastructure enhancement work between Grosseto and Orbetello.

Modified routes, canceled stops and cancellations
Frecciabianca and Frecciarossa Rome-Genoa trains, via Civitavecchia will be diverted via Firenze Campo Marte-Rome, with the cancellation of stops from Livorno to Civitavecchia. Frecciargento Rome-Genoa trains, via Firenze Campo Marte, will be canceled, with impacts also on September 4, 7, 11 and 14.
Intercity trains on the routes Sestri Levante-Naples, Ventimiglia-Roma Termini, Salerno-Turin Porta Nuova will undergo partial cancellations and/or changes in schedule and route with loss of some intermediate stops. Some Intercity Night trains on the Turin Porta Nuova-Salerno/Reggio Calabria Centrale routes will have schedule and route changes with loss of some intermediate stops. Bus service is planned for Intercity trains and some Intercity Night trains. Some Intercity Night trains will also have changes on Friday.
Regional trains
Regional trains operating on the Pisa-Rome line will have schedule changes and will be canceled on the Grosseto-Orbetello/Civitavecchia section, with a bus service active between these locations. Where bus service is provided, travel times may increase, also depending on road traffic. Available seats may be fewer than the normal service offered. Bikes are not allowed on buses and animals are not allowed except guide dogs. Trenitalia’s purchase channels are updated.
Details on the work
On the Tirrenica Genoa – Pisa – Rome line, maintenance and technological enhancement work is scheduled for the weekends of September 5/6 and 12/13 between Grosseto and Orbetello. The interventions by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (FS Group) include the replacement of switches at Alberese station, with the installation of new generation devices characterized by better performance and greater wear resilience. At the same time, signaling and electric traction system upgrades will be carried out. Additionally, extraordinary maintenance will be performed on the railway bridge crossing the Osa river. As mentioned, during the construction activities, rail traffic will be suspended between Grosseto and Orbetello, which will result in rescheduling departure and/or arrival times, cancellations, route changes, or limitations at intermediate locations for long-distance and regional trains. Over 70 RFI technicians and contractor companies with more than 30 work vehicles will be employed during the construction activities. The investment amounts to over 5 million euros.
