ROME. The Ministry of Health has reported, through the European system Safety Gate (notification SR/01963/26), a toy intended for children containing sand contaminated with tremolite, a form of asbestos. The product has been classified with a “serious” risk level. Various municipalities in Tuscany and beyond – through official channels – are relaunching the report with some indications.
What we are talking about
It is – it reads – an elastic toy shaped like an orange carrot, filled with sand, about 17 cm long:
- – Brand: Trendhaus
- – Model: 967176
- – Batch: 2025 = CH33287
- – Barcode: 4032722967176
“The product was also intended for the Italian market and may have been purchased by families, schools, nurseries, and other childcare facilities,” it is highlighted.
The risk is also related to the possibility that the casing may break causing the release of the contaminated material. The recall concerns 30,024 pieces and Italy is also among the destination countries.

“Do not use it”
Obviously, it is explained, if you have it you should not use it and children should be kept away: “Do not open it, do not cut it, do not pierce it and do not try to empty it. The product is subject to recall: it is necessary to check the return procedures with the seller or, if this is not possible, contact the competent Asl/Ats to learn the correct procedures. Do not throw it in regular household waste.”
What if it breaks?
If it is broken, or sand comes out, “do not sweep, do not use a regular vacuum cleaner and do not try to remove the material yourself. Temporarily keep children and other people away from the area and contact the Asl/Ats, following the instructions of the competent authorities.
We invite families and, in particular, schools, nurseries, and educational facilities to check for the presence of the product, including among purchases made in 2025 and 2026 or through online marketplaces.”
