ROME. A tragedy shook the Roman neighborhood of Pietralata in the early afternoon of Monday, August 31. Around 1 p.m., firefighters intervened in an apartment on via dell’Antracite after a relative who could no longer get in touch with the resident family requested help. Once the front door was forced open, the firefighters found a 42-year-old man, his 41-year-old partner, and their 5-year-old daughter dead. The dog was also found dead in the house.

The intervention of the authorities
Shortly after the firefighters arrived, the Montesacro Company Carabinieri intervened. The officers conducted the first surveys inside the apartment, finding gunshot wounds on the three bodies. A pistol, legally owned, was also found in the house, which may have been used in the shooting.
The investigative hypotheses
The dynamics of the event are not yet defined. Investigators are analyzing every element collected at the scene to reconstruct the sequence of events and clarify what happened in the hours preceding the tragedy. At the moment, the most likely hypothesis considered is that of a murder-suicide, but investigations are still ongoing and no lead is excluded.
Elements still to be clarified
Several points remain to be verified: who fired the shots, what the internal dynamics of the house were, and whether there were any signs or previous events that could help understand the context. Investigators are working to organize all the collected data and define a complete picture of the case.
