PISA. A sequence of earthquakes was recorded in the early hours of Sunday, September 13, off the northern Tuscan coast. The events, all located at sea, were detected by the Ingv seismic network. The tremors were concentrated mainly during the night and early morning hours, with several events of magnitude between 2 and 2.5.

The tremors during the night
The first event among those reported by Ingv was recorded at 1:17 AM, with a magnitude of 2.3. Shortly after, at 1:43 AM, a new tremor reached magnitude 2.5, with a hypocenter about 6 kilometers deep.
The activity continued in the following hours. At 2:04 AM, an earthquake of magnitude 2.1 was recorded, at 8 kilometers depth, while at 4:34 AM another tremor reached magnitude 2.0, with a hypocenter at 10 kilometers.
The most recent and among the strongest events of the sequence was recorded at 5:51 AM: magnitude 2.5, with a depth of about 10 kilometers.

The coordinates of the earthquakes place the activity offshore, while the depths of the hypocenters range from a few kilometers to about 10 kilometers.
The sequence therefore affected a relatively confined area and produced several closely spaced tremors within a few hours.
