“Thunderstorms present over the Ligurian Sea and northern Tyrrhenian Sea, waiting to move eastward in the coming hours, also affecting some areas of Tuscany,” it reads shortly before 9 a.m. However, it is promptly clarified, “making detailed forecasts with maritime thunderstorms is almost impossible. You can only follow the radar and understand a few minutes before where they will impact.”
“Enormous energies, reliefs located everywhere in Tuscany and which, depending on the winds, influence the convergences and movement of the various thunderstorms, determine total unpredictability in these situations,” it is explained.
Well, they continue: “We know that by the afternoon some areas will experience even intense showers with peaks of 50-60mm especially in the central areas of the region and on the northern coast north of Livorno but we cannot know more. So we just have to wait with the awareness that this is not a democratic worsening, but rather summer instability.”

And then?
After that, the Cmt staff moves on to the next days: “The North African anticyclone is now in its final stages and the good news is that no new heat waves are expected from now until the end of August. Not only that: always observing the spaghetti models, instability will become a constant in the coming days and there will be the possibility of new thunderstorms during the week. Thunderstorms often in the afternoon, but with the possibility also of new maritime manifestations (from the sea) especially between Thursday and Friday (August 21, ed.)”.

And they conclude in the Cmt analysis: “Atlantic flow regaining strength, North African anticyclone retreating south, all things that favor permanent and sometimes very intense instability due to the enormous energy surplus we have over the Mediterranean Sea and that will soon present the bill…”.
