GROSSETO. The call to the carabinieri arrived Thursday, September 10 around 7:30 PM. This emerged during the validation hearing of the arrest, during which the man reportedly gave his version of events. The 46-year-old had been in a relationship for almost twenty years with this woman, from which a now teenage daughter was born. Then, in February, the separation that the man did not accept. This led to a case of stalking, with the man subject to a restraining order prohibiting him from approaching the ex-partner and close relatives, with the additional obligation to keep a distance of no less than one thousand meters. This was decided at the end of July this year. A measure that, according to the woman, was violated several times, so much so that in August he was reportedly taken to jail for a few days. But even this was not enough, leading to Thursday when the man, according to the ex, contacted the daughter by phone to ask where the mother was. She then left work to reach the girl who was in a supermarket. But outside there was also the man, who approached her in a state she described as altered, uttering incoherent phrases and waving banknotes. At that point, after some tense moments, the woman called the carabinieri who then intervened, stopping the man. She then told them she had reported the ex-partner twice for threats and stalking; the 46-year-old, in recent weeks, had systematically violated the restraining order against her and the daughter, but she, seeing him essentially calm, had not reported it further. The man’s version and the parties’ requests
The man in court gave his version, saying he works regularly at a business in the city and that he had gone to the area to give money to his daughter, so she could buy school books. In recent months he said he had made himself available to financially help the ex-partner and the girls and that that day they had called him, not vice versa. The honorary deputy prosecutor Elena Bartalini requested custody in prison for the man, given the recidivism and various previous criminal records. The man’s lawyer, Stelio Pugi, substituting for Marco Fanti, instead requested house arrest. Judge Agnieszka Karpinska finally accepted the prosecution’s request, applying custody in prison.
