Spotorno, 15-year-old dies electrocuted at the amusement park

SAVONA. A 15-year-old boy died after being struck by an electric shock inside the Spotorno amusement park, in Liguria.

The incident occurred on Thursday evening, shortly before 11 p.m. The young man, from Saronno, was rescued and transferred in critical condition to the San Paolo hospital in Savona, where he later died.

The local police intervened on the scene, seizing the area and the attractions involved in the incident to allow for the necessary investigations.

This morning the mayor, Mattia Fiorini, signed an ordinance ordering the closure of the entire amusement park until the investigations are completed. From what has emerged, the tragedy would have occurred while he was playing with a punching ball, but this aspect is yet to be verified.

The investigation is entrusted to the local police, led by commander Alessandra Ghidara, but the mayor tries to provide a first hypothesis of what might have happened: «There was definitely a problem with the electrical supply, but the thunderstorm an hour before the tragedy could have played a role».

The Spotorno amusement park is historic: «It has been here for at least 20 years – explains Fiorini – always managed by the same people».
