A double food alert currently involves goat cheeses produced by the Capriss farm in Alseno (Piacenza) and fresh category A eggs from Avicola Emiliana in Formigine (Modena). These are significant recalls, issued between July 14 and 15, 2026, concerning different bacterial contaminations: on one hand the presence of STEC (Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli) in the cheeses, and on the other the isolation of Salmonella Typhimurium in the eggs. In both cases, the instructions are clear: do not consume the products and return them to the point of sale.

Capriss cheeses recalled due to presence of STEC
All recalls related to Capriss cheeses state the same reason: “Presence of STEC (Shiga toxin Escherichia coli) detected.” The contamination concerns nine different products, all made with raw goat milk and coming from the facility at Strada Bianca 381, Alseno (PC), identified by the mark IT N 275 U CE.

Why the presence of STEC is dangerous
STEC bacteria can produce a toxin (Shiga toxin) capable of causing: diarrhea including hemorrhagic, abdominal cramps, fever, and in severe cases, hemolytic-uremic syndrome (HUS). The contamination is particularly significant in raw milk products, which do not undergo heat treatments capable of eliminating pathogens.
Avicola Emiliana eggs recalled due to Salmonella Typhimurium
The recall on July 14, 2026 concerns fresh category A eggs produced by Avicola Emiliana of Bertoni Alberto and C. Società Agricola S.S, based in Corlo di Formigine (MO). The notice states verbatim: “Isolation of Salmonella Typhimurium”.

Why Salmonella is dangerous
Salmonella Typhimurium is one of the most common strains in foodborne illnesses.
It can cause:
- fever
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- abdominal pain
The risk increases if eggs are consumed raw or undercooked.
What consumers should do
For all involved products, the instructions are identical:
- do not consume the cheeses and eggs from the indicated batches
- return them to the point of sale for replacement or refund
- carefully check the batch and expiration date on the packaging
- if suspicious symptoms occur, contact a doctor
A broad and coordinated recall
The simultaneous presence of two different contaminations – STEC in cheeses and Salmonella in eggs – makes this alert particularly significant. Health authorities have activated control and traceability procedures, while the involved companies have issued official communications and started product recalls.
