«It is a huge satisfaction – says the general director of Aoup, Katia Belvedere – that endocrinology continues to represent us so excellently in the world thanks to a decades-long tradition of excellence in the treatment of thyroid diseases that has its roots in the Pisan endocrinology school founded in the early ’70s by masters like Lido Baschieri, whose legacy was then taken up by Aldo Pinchera and is now carried forward by all the students who continue in that prestigious path».

Belvedere continues: «That Pisa is the third hospital in Italy and 42nd in the world for endocrinology is a truly remarkable position, which honors the commitment, sacrifice, and dedication of all the professionals of the Endocrine-Surgical Clinical Center, with Pisa always among the top in the world for research and among the most accredited centers internationally for clinical activity, with an extra-regional attractiveness that stands at 30% for endocrinology and 47% for endocrine surgery. We are therefore proud of this result for which I thank all the professionals for the extraordinary work they do every day, which makes patients choose us from all over Italy for treatment, knowing they will find here the best expertise and a consolidated experience that has always guaranteed the highest quality».
