Tuscany is once again dealing with the damage caused by bad weather. The strong storm that arrived on the night of Tuesday, August 25, was particularly felt along the coast. We remind you that a yellow alert for thunderstorms is still in effect in Tuscany.

As explained by the Tuscany Weather Center, «in the early hours of the night, yet another thunderstorm passed through this second half of August with very heavy showers and wind gusts up to 90km/h, caused as always by the various downbursts that we have now learned to recognize».

A night of intense work for the firefighters in Grosseto, dealing with the consequences of the bad weather that affected the province starting around 2 a.m.
The teams from the Grosseto central station and the detachments of Follonica and Arcidosso were engaged in a series of interventions to address problems caused mainly by the strong wind. In total, there were about 25 intervention requests.
The main critical issues involved fallen or dangerous trees and some minor flooding. The interventions were mainly concentrated in the municipal areas of Gavorrano, Scansano, and Montieri, as well as in the Giuncarico area.
One of the most significant incidents occurred on the Aurelia state road, northbound, in the territory of Gavorrano, where a tree fell onto the roadway.
The traffic police had to temporarily stop traffic to allow firefighters to carry out safety operations and remove the tree.
On the Fronzina Provincial Road, in the municipality of Campagnatico, a large pine tree fell onto the road, completely blocking traffic.
Here Livorno
In Livorno, there was a heavy fall of plaster. Moments of fear on the morning of Tuesday, August 25, at the former barracks occupied on via Adriana, the social center and self-managed space since 2011. Large pieces of plaster fell from the facade and also damaged some cars. Fortunately, no one was passing by at that moment. Immediate intervention by municipal police officers and the municipal civil protection. The area was cordoned off around 9 a.m. on August 25. In the province of Livorno, there was also damage in Cecina and Piombino.

New damage also occurred in Versilia during the past night. Meanwhile, the firefighters report a tally that also includes the bad weather phase from last week. In fact, there were 120 interventions carried out by firefighters in the province of Lucca following the severe bad weather that hit the area on August 21, with particular intensity due to wind gusts. Among the areas most affected by the interventions is Versilia, especially Marina di Pietrasanta, where the fall of some trees caused damage to homes and blocked several city streets.
The situation required intense work by the firefighter teams, engaged in removing obstacles and securing the affected areas. New damage also occurred during the past night.
