A new step forward in the strategic relations between Italy and Tunisia in the transport and logistics sector, which is hoped to definitively prevent situations like the one experienced last Saturday by about 800 ferry passengers, who were left onshore for hours waiting for docking authorization from the Tunisian authorities.

The Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Edoardo Rixi signed together with the Minister of Transport of the Tunisian Republic Rachid Amri, the framework cooperation agreement between the two Governments. This is an understanding aimed at strengthening the bilateral partnership and consolidating the role of the Mediterranean as a platform for economic and logistical development.
The agreement expands and coordinates collaboration in the sectors of maritime, rail, road and air transport, logistics and smart mobility, creating a stable framework for the development of joint projects and for an ever greater integration of the connection networks between the two countries.
Among the main contents of the agreement are the strengthening of the technical and organizational capacities of administrations and public companies, training programs for managers and technicians, the exchange of skills and best practices, cooperation on new technologies applied to transport, on electric mobility, on green energy and on infrastructure planning, as well as the implementation of joint projects of national and regional interest.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Rixi reiterated the centrality of maritime connections and the opportunity to strengthen cooperation between Italian and Tunisian shipping companies.
«The signing of this agreement – he declared – represents a concrete result that further strengthens the relationship between Italy and Tunisia in a strategic sector such as transport and logistics. The Mediterranean must once again become a space of connection, growth and shared development. Italy confirms its willingness to invest in partnerships capable of making connections more efficient, promoting trade exchanges and supporting the competitiveness of our logistics systems.»
In the note released by the Ministry, it is emphasized that the agreement consolidates the institutional dialogue between the two countries and lays the foundations for stable and long-term cooperation, enhancing the role of Italy and Tunisia as natural hubs of Euro-Mediterranean traffic and strengthening the economic development prospects of the entire area.
