RIMINI. A patrol of the Riccione highway police, engaged in a traffic control service along the Strada statale 16 Adriatica, in the municipality of Rimini, proceeded to check a truck driven by a 60-year-old man. Subjected to the breathalyzer test, the man tested positive, with a blood alcohol level about twice the allowed limit. The officers then immediately revoked his driver’s license and, as required by law, asked the driver to contact a trusted person suitable to drive, to whom the vehicle was entrusted.

A woman, a 53-year-old cousin of the offender, arrived driving a car but during the identification procedures and verification of requirements, she also tested positive on the breathalyzer, recording a blood alcohol level slightly higher than that of her relative. Both drivers, residents of the Rimini area, were reported for driving under the influence. The two had no choice but to contact another relative, this time sober, who took custody of both vehicles.
