The return of the 65% Ecobonus for certain energy efficiency interventions is one of the hypotheses under study by the Government. The possibility, reported by Il Sole 24 Ore, would fall within the framework of resources available for the energy transition, through greater budget flexibility that could make about 14 billion euros available.
Which works could have the 65% bonus
The possible intervention would aim to increase the level of current tax benefits for a series of works aimed at improving the energy efficiency of buildings.
In particular, the hypothesis concerns the replacement of windows, the installation of heat pumps and air conditioning systems, as well as hybrid systems, solar thermal, solar shading, and thermal insulation.
Essentially, it would be a return to a higher deduction percentage than currently provided, with a greater incentive for those who decide to invest in the energy requalification of their home.
How deductions for the home currently work
The current system of benefits was defined with the 2025 budget maneuver and, with some adjustments, has remained substantially unchanged.

The mechanism currently provides a distinction related to the type of property: 50% deduction for interventions carried out on the main residence and 36% for other properties.
These percentages have been the basis for the main incentives intended for the home, from the Ecobonus to the renovation bonus, up to the Sismabonus.
Home bonus, billions of euros of work at stake
The stakes are significant also from an economic point of view. The set of main tax benefits for the home supports about 25 billion euros of work every year.
To this amount is added a further approximately one billion euros related to interventions financed through the furniture bonus.
The possible return of the Ecobonus to 65% would therefore represent an important change in the current incentive system, especially for interventions aimed at reducing the energy consumption of buildings.
