SIENA. An 80-year-old woman died in Sinalunga in the province of Siena due to the severe storm that hit the area. The news was reported on the Fb profile by the Municipality of Sinalunga itself: «Unfortunately, the death of a woman must be recorded, which occurred inside her home during the weather event. What happened
From an initial reconstruction, the woman, frightened by the strong wind, went to close the window but a gust broke the glass and a shard injured her. The glass shard hit her leg, severing the saphenous vein. The 80-year-old died of blood loss.
The Municipality’s statement
The Municipality emphasizes that there were “strong wind, violent gusts, and heavy rain.” “The weather conditions caused significant damage to the Sports Hall, which suffered roof damage and broken windows. The bell tower of the San Bernardino Convent is also reported damaged – it continues – Roofs of private homes and businesses were uncovered and damaged, while numerous falls of cornices, trees, branches, and debris were recorded, causing the closure of several roads.”

The Municipality of Sinalunga immediately activated the Municipal Operations Center (Coc) to coordinate interventions and constantly monitor the situation. “Municipal workers and Municipal Police officers are engaged in emergency operations to clear roads of trees, branches, and debris and allow the restoration of traffic, which is currently interrupted in several areas of the territory. The Municipality has also activated external private companies to speed up restoration and building safety operations,” the local authority reports, adding that “at the moment no evacuations are recorded.”
