ROME. On Tuesday, September 8, the parliamentary debate on the bill for the reorganization of port governance and the establishment of Porti d’Italia, the joint-stock company that the bill’s promoters intend to assume the role of national coordination center for all matters concerning the sector, will resume.

Next Tuesday’s session will be the first after the summer break. During the proceedings, it will be announced which of the 622 amendments submitted have been deemed inadmissible. This is a crucial step, given the huge number of proposed changes submitted by parliamentary groups and individual members of the Chamber of Deputies. Following the inadmissibility declaration procedure, the priority proposed amendments will be identified, on which the debate will begin and subsequently lead to a vote in committee.
The debate, needless to say, promises to be complex and particularly long. Complex not only because of the very high number of amendments submitted, but also because some of them have come directly from members of the majority political forces and, in some cases, have seen the joint signature of parliamentarians from different political factions. To get a clear picture, it is enough to consider that while the PD submitted 237 amendments, Brothers of Italy, the largest governing party, submitted as many as 121.
The vast majority of the proposed amendments concern the role of Porti d’Italia.
