The presence of Saharan dust in the atmosphere is sharply increasing and in the coming hours the phenomenon is set to intensify. Between today and tomorrow, as explained by the Consorzio Lamma, the currents coming from North Africa will in fact reach their maximum intensity, carrying large amounts of dust over the western Mediterranean and also over Tuscany. The forecasts confirm a particularly widespread episode, with high concentrations expected between August 27 and 28.

Milky sky and more intense sunsets
The effect will be especially visible when observing the sky. Even in the absence of clouds, the color of the atmosphere may appear milky, dull, or yellowish, due to desert-origin particles suspended at altitude.

Sunsets could also be particularly striking, which with the presence of dust may take on more intense and marked hues.
