- Rain: today, Wednesday, nothing to report. Tomorrow, Thursday, structured worsening from the evening with intense thunderstorms in the northwest areas. Average accumulations 20-30 mm in the far northwest (province of Massa-Carrara), locally up to 50-70 mm; intensity 30-50 mm/1h.
- Thunderstorms: today, Wednesday, nothing to report. Tomorrow, Thursday, worsening with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms in the morning in the northwest (low probability), followed by a structured worsening from the evening with intense thunderstorms. Possibility of gusts of wind and hail.
To clarify: «Considering the expected meteorological evolution, tomorrow – August 20, editor’s note – it will be possible to issue an orange code valid for Friday».
Description of expected scenarios
Moving on to the description of the expected event scenarios, it is articulated: «In a scenario characterized by high forecast uncertainty, intense phenomena occasionally dangerous to people’s safety and capable of causing local discomfort and damage will be possible».
And again: «Effects related to hydrogeological-hydraulic risk of minor network will be possible, which could occur suddenly and unexpectedly. Due to violent wind gusts, further effects will be possible including, for example, breaking of branches and/or falling of trees, falling of tiles, damage to temporary structures and/or buildings, knocking down of poles, signs and scaffolding, transport of material, disruptions and/or interruption of traffic and damage to service distribution networks (including telephone and electricity) with consequent outages».
«In case of hailstorms, damage to agricultural crops, building roofs and vehicles will also be possible. Finally, due to lightning strikes, damage to buildings, trees and service distribution networks (including telephone and electricity) and possibly the ignition of fires in wooded areas will be possible», it is highlighted.
