On August 15 it will not be difficult to find a supermarket open in Tuscany: many chains will guarantee service, especially along the coast and in tourist locations, while in other areas several stores will only be open in the morning. However, there is no single model: each chain adopts different choices and, before going out, it is always advisable to check the individual store’s page.
Unicoop Firenze and Unicoop Etruria
For Unicoop Firenze openings will be “spotty”: many stores will remain closed, but 13 out of 16 supermarkets on the coast will be operational. Some exceptions are also expected in the provinces of Arezzo and Siena.
Sunday, August 16, instead, all 157 cooperative stores will open, with varying hours.
In the calendar prepared by Unicoop Etruria, the 56 supermarkets in the provinces of Livorno and Grosseto will be open on Ferragosto, albeit with very different time slots.

- Cecina and Portoferraio: 7:30–20
- Rosignano Solvay, Venturina Terme, Orbetello: 8–20
- Piombino Gori and Salivoli: closing at 13:30
- Castiglione della Pescaia and Follonica: 7:30–20
- Albinia, Fonteblanda, Grosseto Cile, Aurelia Antica: until 20
- Some seasonal stores will have split hours:
- Riva degli Etruschi (San Vincenzo): 8–13:30 and 15:30–20
- Camping Orizzonte (Piombino): 8–13:30 and 16–20

Esselunga
Most Esselunga supermarkets will be open on August 15, with hours ranging from 8–14 to 8–20.
Examples:
- Florence, Galluzzo: special opening 8–20
- Florence, via Masaccio: closing at 14
- Camaiore and Prato, viale Leonardo da Vinci: until 20

Conad
Many Conad stores will be operational even on Ferragosto, both in cities and holiday resorts. Some will be open all day, others only in the morning. The chain does not apply a national schedule: for each store it is necessary to check the address and services on Conad.it.
Iper Tosano
In Calenzano Iper Tosano will be open. The summer schedule (June 15–September 6) provides:
- hypermarket and dining area: 8–21
- shopping gallery: 9–21
Individual activities may have variations.
Eurospin, Lidl, Pam, Penny, Dpiù, Carrefour
These chains also foresee widespread openings, but without a uniform schedule throughout Tuscany. Some supermarkets will be open all day, others only in the morning, and others closed. To avoid unnecessary travel, it is necessary to consult the website or app of the individual brand.
The Filcams Cgil strike
The openings are affected by the strike called by Filcams Cgil Tuscany for Ferragosto, which protests the transformation of holidays into normal working days. The union invites consumers not to shop on August 15. The protest also concerns the I Gigli shopping center in Campi Bisenzio, which will remain open, and the Primark case, where – according to Filcams – some employees allegedly received disciplinary actions after the June 2 strike.
