French police have found the remains of five newborns in the home of a couple in Orange near Avignon in the Vaucluse department.

Investigators – writes the local newspaper “La Provence” citing a source close to the investigation – discovered the bodies in cardboard boxes. Yesterday the woman had given birth to a baby in good health.
According to a source close to the investigation, interviewed by Le Parisien, the woman was born in 1994. The couple, described as having no criminal record, already has two children, aged eight and twelve. The man works while the wife is a housewife. The husband – according to reports – was absent when the woman went to the hospital for abdominal pain and allegedly decided to rummage through some boxes at home after an argument about their contents. There he would have discovered a decomposing corpse. The husband then took the bag to the hospital, which reported the incident to the authorities under article 40.
