MASSA. Politics is sometimes a group photo and – as taught by the Soviet Communist Party in Stalin’s time – often who is missing is more important than who poses. A rule that also applies there, where saying “red” causes hives. Just count the absentees at the three-day Festa Tricolore of Brothers of Italy in Massa, which from this perspective says a lot about the state of the party in Tuscany. Many responded “present” to the roll call among regional councilors, parliamentarians, a couple of ministers, a plethora of local administrators. In short, almost the entire Tuscan brotherhood and sisterhood. Or almost.
Absences
Bringing the Festa under the Apuan Alps is the Massa MP Alessandro Amorese. Distinctive signs: a militant from the very beginning, always attentive to promoting the “right-wing culture,” strong ties with the “dethroned” regional councilor Marco Guidi. The man who, after receiving over 13,000 votes in the district, saw his seat taken by the party colleague from Pisa Serena Bulleri, due to a TAR court ruling ordering a recount of votes after her appeal. How did Amorese take it? A post with a photo hugging Guidi: “Tomorrow it will pass for us, never for you. You will forever remain what you are, today, yesterday, and tomorrow.” Speaking of photos: who was missing at the Festa Tricolore? Yes, her. Bulleri. She is not the only significant absence at the crowded three-day event. If you look closely, you won’t even find the face of Raffaele Latrofa, powerful former deputy mayor of Pisa and appointed last July as extraordinary commissioner of the Central Northern Tyrrhenian Sea Port System Authority. There were, and they appeared in the brochure, both the vice president of the regional council Diego Petrucci and the new provincial secretary of Fdi Fabio Mini. In the Regional elections, Petrucci and Bulleri ran “as a pair” in their district, but when the ballots were counted something didn’t add up: there was a mismatch in certain areas, especially where Bulleri got many votes and Petrucci fewer.
