AREZZO. A false accusation of sexual violence, born from word of mouth and amplified by social networks, has turned the life of a 15-year-old boy from Arezzo into a nightmare. For months the student was the target of threats, insults, assaults, and acts of intimidation until he changed his lifestyle habits. The Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office at the Arezzo Court has closed the investigation against five peers, accused of stalking. The investigation was conducted by the Mobile Squad of the Arezzo Police Headquarters.
The origin of the story dates back to November 2025. The boy was seen hugging a peer at a party. From that episode, a completely false reconstruction took shape which, passing from mouth to mouth and through WhatsApp and Instagram, turned into the accusation of having committed sexual violence.
Intimidations and stalking
From that moment the fifteen-year-old became the target of a hate campaign. He received threatening and offensive messages, some of which were acquired as evidence in the investigation, while others automatically disappeared from the platforms. The intimidations soon escalated into episodes of violence. Among those reconstructed by the investigators is the gathering of about fifty boys in front of the young man’s school. Only the intervention of the teachers allowed him to move away and return home, despite being tripped and made to fall. On another occasion he was surrounded in the city center. Some assaults were recorded with cell phones and spread on social media. In one video the boy is pulled by the sweatshirt, in another he receives a kick, while a third shows a young person waving a stick at him.
The complaint
Although the girl indicated as the alleged victim publicly denies any episode of violence or harassment, the fifteen-year-old continues to be labeled as a rapist. With the support of his parents, the boy decides to report what happened. According to the accusation, the persecutory conduct deeply affected his daily life, forcing him to change his habits and avoid places and situations for fear of new attacks. With the closure of the investigation, five minors are called to answer the charge of stalking. The proceedings will now continue before the Juvenile Court.
