ROME. The number of experts called upon to express their opinions and judgments on the port sector reform law is growing. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has in fact adopted the supplementary decree that strengthens the Working Group tasked with supporting the reform of port governance, adjusting its composition to the progress of the parliamentary process of the bill. The announcement comes directly from the Ministry itself.

“The goal – reads the ministerial note – is to provide the reform with an even broader and more qualified pool of expertise, integrating high-profile professionals from the world of institutions, academia, and professions, with consolidated experience in the fields of law, economics, logistics, and maritime policies. This strengthening will allow for a deeper technical examination of the issues that emerged during the parliamentary debate and to accompany the path towards the final approval of the measure.”
“The reform of port governance – comments Deputy Minister Edoardo Rixi, considered the originator of the bill – represents a strategic choice for the future of the national logistics system and we want it to reach the finish line with the broadest possible pool of expertise. The parliamentary debate is helping to enrich the text and we consider it necessary to further strengthen the technical support to the Working Group. Our goal is to deliver to the country a modern, authoritative reform capable of making Italian ports more competitive, efficient, and fully integrated into the major European and Mediterranean networks.”

The Ministry’s note concludes by specifying that the Working Group, which today can count on 33 members of very high professional and technical qualification, represents the Government’s will to build a reform based on merit, institutional dialogue, and the contribution of the best available expertise, to equip Italy with a modern, efficient port governance capable of meeting the challenges of the coming decades.
