A complicated day for those traveling along the Tyrrhenian railway line. Just on the eve of the scheduled train stop in the Florence hub – planned from the evening of Sunday, July 26 until Thursday, July 30 for works on the Ponte al Pino – an electrical line fault on the Pisa–Rome line paralyzed the circulation of trains intended to replace high-speed services during the closure. The first problems emerged shortly after 8:30 AM when circulation was interrupted on the Genoa–Rome line, in the Tuscan section between the capital and Pisa.
What happened
The cause is linked to technical checks on the electrical line between the stations of Scarlino and Giuncarico, in the province of Grosseto. Rete Ferroviaria Italiana announced that technicians intervened from the early hours and that, after midday, the line was partially restored. Despite this, the situation remains very difficult: along the affected section, circulation is severely slowed, with delays of up to 200 minutes, limitations and cancellations. Trenitalia confirms that technical checks near Scarlino are causing an increase in travel times of up to 200 minutes for High-Speed, Intercity and Regional trains. AV and IC trains can be diverted to an alternative route via Florence, while Regional trains may experience limitations or cancellations.
Delays
Among the most affected trains is the Intercity Notte 794 Reggio Calabria Centrale (20:38) – Torino Porta Nuova (14:40), which is running over 60 minutes late.

Replacement services are active for affected travelers
Passengers traveling to or from Roma Ostiense, Civitavecchia, Grosseto, Follonica, Campiglia Marittima and Livorno Centrale can use dedicated buses up to Pisa Centrale, where they continue with the first available trains.
