Wedding season has arrived, and among Italian couples, some decide to request a loan rather than give up their dream wedding. In Tuscany, the amount sought from financial institutions to cover wedding-related expenses is just over 9,300 euros. This was revealed by an analysis carried out by Facile.it and Prestiti.it.

How much does a wedding cost
The request for a loan to finance a wedding is better understood when considering that, according to a recent survey commissioned by Facile.it to mUp Research, Italian couples face an average expense of 13,721 euros to pay for the ceremony, an amount that in some cases and based on specific requests can rise significantly. «Italians’ relationship with consumer credit is proving to be increasingly mature,» explain the experts at Facile.it. «Aware of the opportunities offered by this type of personal loan, Italian couples can afford the wedding they have always dreamed of without the expense becoming unsustainable.»
Higher spending than the national average
The analysis shows that those in Tuscany who applied for a wedding loan sought to obtain, on average, 9,328 euros to be repaid in just over 60 installments of 176 euros each. The average amount requested at the regional level is 6% higher than the national average. As for the average age of applicants, it is curious to note that it is 45 and a half years, a full 1 and a half years older than the national average. Translated, economic stability and life projects for two in the region arrive later.

Amounts by province
Looking at these loans on a territorial basis, it emerges that the province of Florence is the area of Tuscany where the highest average amounts were requested (10,752 euros, 15% more than the regional average); followed in the ranking by Pistoia (9,867 euros), Prato (9,740 euros), and Lucca (9,504 euros). Values below the regional average, but still higher than the Italian average, for Arezzo (9,181 euros), Massa-Carrara (9,163 euros), Pisa (9,089 euros), and Grosseto (8,958 euros). The provinces of Livorno (8,875 euros) and Siena close the ranking, where the average amount of wedding loans requested is 8,854 euros.
Dresses, photographer, party: how much is spent on average
Returning to national values, the cost of a wedding ceremony can weigh heavily on the pockets of the newlyweds. But to what extent do the various expenses affect the budget? Among the items that require the largest sums are the outfits (from 500 to 8,000 euros for the bride and from 700 to 3,000 euros for the groom), obviously accompanied by shoes (from 100 to 300 euros for him and up to 3,000 euros for her). For makeup, on the other hand, the expense can range from 175 to 600 euros, and for the wedding car, between 300 and 600 euros. To capture everything, there will be the photographer, whose service costs the couple between 1,500 and 2,500 euros. Flowers to decorate the ceremony and reception venue can cost from 1,500 to 9,000 euros, while catering, another very significant item in the overall cost of a wedding and extremely variable not only based on the food chosen but also on the type of service and the number of guests, has a price that ranges between 150 and 250 euros per person. Of course, the cake is separate and, by itself, can cost from 200 to 1,500 euros (again, based on type and size). After the ceremony and reception, one must also think about the party, and whether it’s a DJ or a live band, the music has a cost that can range from 800 to 3,000 euros. Finally, wedding favors require an outlay of between 5 and 20 euros per person. «Getting married today has objectively significant costs, and because of this, it is understandable that many couples prefer to defer payment, thus avoiding too many sacrifices – says Andrea Bettinzoli, wedding planner at Chapeau Consulting – Saving, however, is possible, especially by rationalizing some costs that can be “shared” with other couples getting married on the same day and in the same place (for example, flowers for the church decoration) and by choosing suppliers with a professional in the sector who guarantee the best quality/price ratio.»
