LIVORNO. Unpaid taxes and irregularities in the use of wells. This emerged during inspections carried out on the maritime and water state property by the Naval Operational Unit of the Livorno Finance Police, which imposed fines exceeding 320,000 euros on several beach resorts along the Tuscan coast.
Failure to pay Imu and Tari
The military personnel from the Livorno naval station and the Naval Operational Sections of Portoferraio, Marina di Carrara and Porto Santo Stefano were involved. In particular, municipal revenue shortfalls related to the five-year period 2021-2025 amounting to over 75,000 euros were found, referring to buildings and structures present on the beaches (Imu), and over 17,000 euros related to the tax for the waste collection and disposal service produced within the concession area (Tari), as well as about 4,000 euros of regional taxes on state property concessions. The total fines amount to over 120,000 euros.

Inspections and fines
The inspections also concerned the use of four wells granted to the resorts for extraction from the aquifer for commercial uses, revealing several violations, such as the non-compliance of use compared to what was authorized by the Civil Engineering Department of the Tuscany Region, failure to report consumption, and non-payment of regional fees. The extracted water was, in fact, used for facilities made available to users, such as showers and toilets, instead of the authorized purposes, such as irrigation of greenery and moistening of the beach in conjunction with sirocco winds. The responsible parties have been reported for the recovery of lost revenues and the collection of fines quantified at 200,000 euros.
