For this reason, the Regional Civil Protection Operations Room has extended the yellow weather alert for severe thunderstorms to all areas of the region with hydrogeological-hydraulic risk of the minor network, valid until midnight today, Monday, August 17.
Here Palio di Siena
At the moment, around 1 p.m. today, August 17, the program of the Palio di Siena (postponed yesterday, we remind you, due to rain) is confirmed: the contrade have been told to prepare for the historical parade after a phone consultation with the captains. However, be careful, because around 2 p.m., in the Piazza del Campo area, it started raining again, although not too heavily. The Palio remains in doubt, with the eyes of the people of Siena and the many tourists present often looking towards the Town Hall: in case of a green flag, it will be postponed again to tomorrow (August 18).

The favored contrade
Great anticipation anyway for a Race that, if held, promises to be exciting. As mentioned, the weather uncertainty remains. Tomorrow (August 17) sees several Tuscan municipalities under weather alert, not Siena, but the risk of rain exists. It will be crucial to understand what will happen in the morning and early afternoon tomorrow.
Ahead of the race, three favored contrade: Lupa with Velluto (Dino Pes) who rides Diodoro, coming off the victory on July 3, Aquila who triumphed in the Palio of Provenzano: Benitos with Brigante (Carlo Sanna), the pair dreaming of the “cappotto.” Whoever wants to win in Piazza del Campo, it is now certain, cannot ignore Giovanni Atzeni called “Tittia”: he will be the one with Anda and Bola trying to take the “cuffia” from Nicchio, which has not won since 1998 and is the “grandmother” of the Palio (the contrada that has gone the longest without winning). The other contrade: Giuseppe Zedde called Gingillo on Donrodrigo for Torre, Federico Guglielmi called Tamurè on Ares Elce for Istrice, Sebastiano Murtas called Grandine on Canarinu for Selva, Michel Putzu called Spago on Diamante Sauro for Oca, Jonatan Bartoletti called Scompiglio on Arestetulesu for Chiocciola, Andrea Sanna called Virgola on Viso d’Angelo for Onda, Elias Mannucci called Turbine on Euskaldi for Giraffa.
