The news was reported by T, the autonomous daily newspaper of Trentino Alto Adige, highlighting that the announcement was made by his father Giovanni Battista Maestri: “Our Mattia has left us and on his behalf I thank you for helping to make his passing less painful.”

Mattia’s story had deeply affected public opinion in Trentino and nationwide. Since that tragic episode, his father had turned his grief into a long civil and judicial battle to obtain justice and promote greater awareness of the risks associated with consuming raw milk and its products, especially for children.

In recent months Giovanni Battista Maestri had described how his son was cared for daily with complex therapies and took 47 medications a day.
