Regarding self-service, the highest prices in Italy are charged by a station located in Milan that sells gasoline at 2.635 euros per liter, diesel at 2.695 euros per liter, and also in the municipality of Milan another station sells diesel at 2.442 euros/liter. The second highest price is found in Pantelleria, where diesel costs 2.599 euros per liter, gasoline 2.499 euros/liter. In third place are two other islands: in Ponza and Isola del Giglio a liter of diesel costs 2.399 euros per liter.

The ranking continues with Scafati (Sa), where self-service diesel costs 2.398 euros/liter, 2.389 euros/liter in Stresa (Vb), 2.380 euros/liter in Procida (Na), 2.349 euros/liter in Simeri Crichi (Cz). The situation is even worse on the highway, where Codacons analyzed prices stretch by stretch in full-service mode. Here diesel prices reach nearly 2.7 euros per liter: this is the case on the A21 Torino-Piacenza where today a liter of diesel costs 2.699 euros per liter, 2.682 euros/liter on the A4 Venice-Trieste. On the A22 Brennero-Modena diesel costs 2.609 euros/liter.

Regarding gasoline, the highest full-service price is recorded on the A21 (2.549 euros per liter), on the A28 (2.489 euros per liter), and on the A1, A12 and A14 (2.449 euros per liter), Codacons points out. “Beyond the extreme cases recorded on the urban and highway networks, the increases in pump prices will have heavy effects on Italians’ summer holidays – the association denounces –. At this time of year, in fact, family travel and refueling at stations increase, and for this reason the government must intervene urgently.”
