According to data provided today by Mimit, the average price of gasoline reaches 2.1 euros per liter on the regular network but soars to 2.192 euros per liter on the highway, reaching the highest level ever recorded in our country, explains Codacons. The Italian historical record of 2.184 euros per liter reached on March 14, 2022, has thus been surpassed, with unleaded gasoline, after diesel, registering a new negative record.

Data expected to worsen further, considering that with oil over 100 dollars per barrel, pump prices will undergo new substantial increases. «For this reason, the measure of cutting excise duties only on diesel and by only 17 euro cents is no longer sufficient: we are facing a real emergency that risks having devastating cascading effects on citizens’ purchasing power and family consumption, and it must be addressed with extraordinary measures – continues Codacons – The government must absolutely not only strengthen the discount on diesel but also extend the excise duty cut to gasoline, in order to give relief to citizens exhausted by the high fuel prices.»
