Lorena Isceri was still alive when she was thrown from the viaduct: what the autopsy said and the old quarrel recounted by the mother

FLORENCE. Lorena Isceri, the 45-year-old woman killed by her ex-partner Federico Vella on the afternoon of Thursday, September 3rd in Florence, was still alive when she was thrown off a viaduct of the A1 highway in Barberino del Mugello. This emerges from the first results of the autopsy started yesterday in Florence, and it is what the investigators of the Mobile Squad and the prosecutor Antonio Natale expected given what emerged in the first days of investigation.

The investigations

Irrepeatable technical investigations were entrusted to doctors Elisa Ferri and Beatrice Defraia. The report will be filed within 90 days. The two professionals were asked to clarify whether the 45-year-old was still alive when she was thrown from the viaduct and to verify the possible presence of injuries attributable to a previous phase.

Vella’s body, who killed himself by throwing himself from the same viaduct half an hour after throwing down his ex-partner, was also subjected to an autopsy and to toxicological tests to verify whether the man had taken drugs or psychotropic medications.

The video

Investigators now seem convinced that Lorena was alive until she was thrown off the viaduct: supporting this is also a video from the highway security cameras as well as the recording of the call that the woman managed to make to 112 from the trunk of the car in which Vella had locked her. Similarly, Lorena’s mother reportedly told investigators about a furious argument at her daughter’s house in which the ex-partner was violent towards her.

The inquiries

Meanwhile, the Prosecutor’s Office has also opened a file for kidnapping in order to commit murder, and femicide aggravated by premeditation. The man was reportedly seen by some neighbors wandering around the area of Isceri’s home, in via Panciatichi in Rifredi. Also under review by the Mobile Squad is the receipt of a purchase made by the man on the morning of the crime in a shop in Novoli, and the material found in the car, including cable ties, hammer, scissors, adhesive tape, and a tarp. Objects that could have been used by Vella to prepare the ambush on his ex in her home garage and to kidnap her. Natale also ordered a forensic copy of the three seized cell phones to reconstruct what happened in the weeks before the femicide, from when Lorena Isceri decided to end the relationship.

The funeral

After the medico-legal investigations, already tomorrow (September 8) Lorena’s body could be returned to the family and then transported to Squinzano, her hometown, where the funeral will be held tomorrow or Thursday, on the occasion of which the mayor, Mario Pede, has announced a day of mourning.
