A contribution of up to 6,000 euros per year to help separated or divorced parents pay the rent. The measure provides for the reimbursement of 50% of housing expenses, in favor of parents with dependent children who are not assigned the family home and who meet certain economic requirements.
The regulation to establish the Fund for housing support for separated or divorced parents with dependent children is ready, with the aim of supporting those who, after separation, have to face the expenses for a new home.
Rent contribution for separated parents: how much is due
The support provides for the payment of 50% of the rent expenses, up to a maximum of 6,000 euros per year per beneficiary.
The Mit has announced that it has sent a note to the Mef to unlock the funds and allow the start of the measure as soon as possible. According to estimates, the contribution could reach an initial group of at least 5,000 beneficiaries already in the coming months.
The measure, strongly desired by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini, makes available 60 million euros over three years to support separated or divorced parents who have to bear the expenses of a new home.
Requirements to obtain the contribution
Parents who have at least one dependent child, are up to date with the payment of alimony, and have an annual income not exceeding 35,000 euros will be able to access the support.
To determine the income limit, the Isee will not be used, but the income for Irpef purposes.
The measure arises from the need to support those parents who, after separation, are no longer assigned the family home and therefore have to find a new accommodation, while simultaneously facing the expenses related to child maintenance.
Who can apply for rent support
To benefit from the contribution, it will be necessary to have a regular rental contract and not own other properties within 50 kilometers of the previous family home.
The support cannot be combined with other contributions or subsidies intended for rent payment.
How to submit the application
The application to obtain the contribution can be submitted online. The operational methods and timing for submitting requests will be defined with the actual start of the measure, after the unlocking of resources by the Mef.
Who will be given priority
Once the funds are available, priority will be given to regions with the highest number of separated or divorced parents and to those characterized by a stronger housing emergency.
The aim of the provision is to reduce the economic difficulties faced by parents who, after separation or divorce, find themselves without the family home, with particular attention to the consequences on the living conditions of the children.
