Carrara, dead run over by marble slabs: a life of sacrifices erased by work

CARRARA. No one exactly remembers when the Messinese left Sicily. When he arrived at the foot of the Apuan Alps, probably, Aldo Gullotti, the 44-year-old worker who yesterday lost his life at the commercial headquarters of Santucci Group, the stone company he had worked for over twenty years, “was not even of legal age.” He was crushed by a “package” – a bundle – of marble slabs he was handling.

He did small jobs, all by himself, step by step he had fixed it up.”

The son

And then there was his son. And it is to him that the thoughts of both the Santucci family and the work colleagues, from the production site and the commercial office, go. Already yesterday morning, in front of the company gates and offices, there were those thinking – imagining – how to help that child who no longer has his father.
