AGLIENTU. Tragedy along the beach of Rena Matteu, in the territory of Aglientu in Sardinia, not far from Rena Majore. This morning, Tuesday, August 18, a Tuscan tourist – a 64-year-old hotelier from Arezzo – probably died due to a sudden illness, shortly after entering the water. The intervention of the 118 emergency personnel, who arrived on site by helicopter, was in vain.

The alarm from bathers and the rescue
The alarm was raised when some bathers noticed the man in difficulty, at the mercy of the waves. Those present reached him and dragged him ashore, where his condition immediately appeared desperate: the 64-year-old was unconscious. The Areus helicopter intervened on site. The paramedics started resuscitation maneuvers, but every attempt to save his life proved useless. The doctors had no choice but to declare the death.
For the investigations, the military of the Porto Torres Coast Guard also intervened. The man, as mentioned, was in Sardinia for a holiday period.
